Today was a take-it-easy day down in HK for us - seeing as to the last few days were spent power walking around the whole of HK. We started with brekky at 1pm down the street from where we were staying and the food was sooooooooo good!! And we only spent 80HK each, with roughly equates to a little over 7AUD. Tina, Train and I decided to go fob styles and ordered the tripe and tendon dish as an entree as well as our rice dishes and it was tastey as hell! The tripe and tendons had obviously been left to cook in the broth for a while because it was flavoursome, tender and just so damn good. I had a baked rice dish with chicken fillets, and it was pretty much rice topped iwht an almost napoli sauce with bits of brocolli, some chicken fillets and baked lightly. It was sooo good! the rice was obviously fried in a little oil first making it moist.. great idea! I ate Train's hainese chicken and it was sooooo good. The ginger sauce had a good hit of ginger and complimented the soy chicken rather nicely. Again, the rice was cooked in a little oil making the dish moist and easy to eat. Choco's fried rice was awesome too, and Tina's dish was drenched in soy sauce (her own doing) and so I didn't really get to eat it as I'm not really a fan of soy sauce.
Anyways, when we got there, Choco and Garry were 15 minutes late. On top of the 30 mins from when we initially saw them and they said they were on their way.. I swear. For two guys, they're really high maintenance! Choco didn't bring white socks to match his New Balance shoes, but didn't want to wear his black sneakers wiht his black socks already on his feet. I was going to shoot him.
Just a little rant. After we ate our brekky, we walked down to the ladies market again and did some shopping. Some lady tried to sell me Yoshi slippers for 89Hk but I managed to bargain it down to 40Hk each. And then proceeded to buy 8 pairs. I've learnt the h ard way that most tend to just double the price automatically when you ask how much a certain item is. Therefore, you need to at least halve it. If they want to sell it to you at the price, then theyre still making a profit. If you walk away and they let you, it's most likely theyre not making enough profit to sell. Lesson learnt.
Anyways, I split from the main group and said I'd meet them at the hotel, only to realise that I had no idea where I was going and somehow ended up at the backstreets of HK where the locals were. Looked at different fresh produce whilst munching on a waffle cake filled wiht custard and continued on my merry path of lostness. I had no idea where I was. Somehow, by pure luck and chance, I managed to recognise the shoe seller at th e street corner a few blocks from my house and got home an hour later. Since no one was back yet, I went to the swimming pool and had a dip.. by myself for about an hour. That was, until four German's came and started talking loudly in ze duetsch.. quickly followed by four rather noisy Kiwi's discussing some random topic. I took it as my cue to leave. Just as I did, Tina nad Train rocked u p. Turns out they got home 40 minutes ago and were looking for me. oops.
Anywyas, showered and went for dinner at.. *dum dum duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuum!* pizza hut! I love pizza hut overseas!! The variety here is amazing and they're stuffed crust is freaking awesome. I usually eat a slice or two of pizza nad Tina's stuffed crust because she doesn't want to fill up with crust.. Uh oh.. concierge caught me using the internet without paying.. lol
But we pretty much just went tot he fish market after, bought some cool toothpaste-shaped pencil cases and walked back to the hotel. I'm not sure why, but even though it's a 20 mminute walk to the hotel, I always enjoy it. I find it's a good way to relax and unwind and prepare myself for bed time. I guess it's because I know that once I get home, I get to shower and just chill in my room. Except Train wanted to watch some horror movie so unfortunately I had to make myself scarce after the shower.. which leads me once again to th e internet for some solace. lol such a chicken shit. Did I mention I love HK?
